Mattress Requirements

• Top bunk: Twin mattress — recommended thickness 8 inches or less.
• Lower bunk: Twin mattress — recommended thickness 8 inches or less.
• Optional Twin trundle: Twin mattress — maximum 8 inches thick.
• No box spring or foundation required.

Dual-Height Lower Bunk

The lower bunk can be assembled at one of two height settings depending on how you plan to use the bed.

Lower setting – More Headroom

The bottom of the lower rail sits approximately 4" above the floor, providing approximately 43" of clearance between the bunks. This configuration provides more headroom for the person using the lower bunk but does not accommodate a trundle or under-bed drawers.

Higher setting – Trundle or Under-Bed Storage

The bottom of the lower rail sits approximately 12" above the floor, providing approximately 35" of clearance between the bunks. This setting creates the space required for an optional Twin trundle or under-bed storage drawers.

Storage Stairway

The storage staircase provides comfortable access to the upper bunk while making practical use of the space alongside the bed.

Four functional drawers of different sizes are built directly into the staircase, providing convenient storage for clothing, bedding and other bedroom essentials.

The staircase is reversible and can be installed on either the right or left side of the bunk bed, allowing you to configure the bed according to your room layout.

Under-Bed Options

When the lower bunk is assembled at the higher setting, you can add either storage or an additional sleeping surface.

Twin roll-out trundle
Add an additional Twin sleeping surface for overnight guests. The trundle rolls underneath the lower bunk when not in use and accommodates a Twin mattress up to 8" thick.

How Your Dillon Bunk Bed Arrives

Unlike many ready-to-assemble bunk beds that require the headboards to be built piece by piece, the Dillon's upper and lower headboards arrive fully assembled. This significantly reduces the number of individual components that need to be assembled and simplifies the overall setup process.

A Dillon Twin Bunk Bed with Storage Stairs typically ships in 6 boxes, with the major components packaged separately:

• 2 Headboard Boxes – The upper and lower headboards arrive fully assembled.
• 1 Bed Rail Box – Contains the side rails and guardrails used to connect the headboards and form the upper and lower bed frames.
• 1 Slat Box – Contains the mattress-support slats for both the upper and lower beds.
• 2 Storage Stair Boxes – Contain the components for the storage staircase and related guardrail.

The six boxes are typically secured together on a wooden pallet and shipped by freight carrier. This helps keep the components together and protected during transit.

Because the headboards are already assembled, the main setup consists of connecting the headboards with the bed rails and guardrails, installing the mattress-support slats, assembling and attaching the storage staircase, and completing the final hardware connections.

Optional components such as a trundle or under-bed storage drawers are packaged separately and will increase the total number of boxes in your shipment.
